Nick Kyrgios can’t calm down at least a little. Wherever there is a controversial Australian, there are smaller or bigger problems. It was the same in the duel with the American Reilly Opelka at the tournament in Houston.
The 94th tennis player in the world played against a powerful server such as Opelka. He offered him good resistance, but for something more he had to have far more concentration.
And Kyrgios clearly lost it with a result of 5:5 (30:15) in the second set. Opelka got that point, but Kyrgios complained that the ball was in the car before.
The Australian was furious at the judge, asking him “what is he doing” and calling him “tragicomic”. Kyrgios then lost the next point, and as he continued to shout at the main referee, he got a penalty point, which meant a game for Opelka!
It is completely unbelievable that Kyrgios allowed himself to be left without a game so easily, and a server like Opelka used that opportunity to win the second set, as well as the match.
With that victory, Opelka went to the finals, where he will meet his compatriot and another fantastic server, John Isner.
Let us remind you that this is just the latest in a series of scandals for Kyrgios, who recently had a heated argument with Judge Carlos Bernardes in Miami.
Then, he was deprived not only of a point, but also of the entire game due to severe insults against Bernardes. Indeed, Nick has not calmed down lately…
