The 2025 London Marathon has reaffirmed its reputation as the world’s largest single-day fundraising event, raising a record-breaking £87.3 million for charity, an increase of £13.8 million on the previous best total set in 2024.
Held on 27 April, the event saw 56,640 runners cross the finish line, earning a Guinness World Record for the largest number of marathon finishers. Their combined efforts brought the total amount raised since the race’s inception in 1981 to £1.4 billion.
“We are extremely proud that the TCS London Marathon continues to set new records,” said Hugh Brasher, CEO of London Marathon Events. “While it takes place on one day every year, its impact goes far beyond that.”
Enthuse, the event’s official online fundraising partner, also recorded a milestone year, with £35.77 million raised through its platform. The average donation stood at £46.75, while the typical fundraising page generated £2,809.
The 2025 edition not only highlighted the enduring spirit of the marathon’s participants but also reinforced the event’s position as a cornerstone of charitable giving in the United Kingdom.
