The 2026 Hudson Race Series powered by Nike began with a sold out opening race in the Three Cities, confirming its status as one of the most popular events on the local running calendar. The fast and flat route through Cospicua, Senglea and Vittoriosa once again attracted a strong field of athletes competing over the 10km and 5km distances.
In the 10km race, Mark Herrera claimed victory after a closely contested battle at the front of the field. Clayton Abela finished second following a head to head contest for much of the race, while first female finisher Jemima Farley crossed the line in third place overall, just one second behind Abela. Brandon Saliba completed the men’s podium in third place.

Farley also secured first place in the women’s category with a controlled and consistent performance. Ritianne Zammit finished second, followed closely by Analise Xuereb in third, with only 14 seconds separating the two athletes.
The 5km race produced similarly competitive action. John Mintoff recorded his first win in the Hudson Race Series, finishing ahead of Keith Falzon in second place and Alessandro Vizzini in third, with only a few seconds between the top three finishers.
In the women’s 5km event, Charyl Fava continued her strong form by taking a clear win. Brenda Cascun placed second, while Chrystal Parnis completed the podium in third.
Race Director Charlie Demanuele presented the trophies to the overall and age group winners and thanked the local councils of Cospicua, Senglea and Vittoriosa, Transport Malta, officials, volunteers and the organising team for their contribution to the successful staging of the event.
The second race of the 2026 Hudson Race Series powered by Nike will take place on Sunday 12 April in Maqluba. The event is close to selling out, with limited places remaining.
