It was a landmark day for Maltese hockey as Qormi Daikin clinched the EuroHockey Challenge 3 title following a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Slovenia’s HK Lipovci. The match was evenly contested and remained tense until the very end. The Slovenians took the lead in the third quarter, but Qormi stayed composed and managed to level the score.

With the match requiring a definitive winner, the outcome was decided by a penalty shoot-out. Qormi held their nerve and proved more accurate, winning 3–2.

There were jubilant scenes among Qormi’s players and officials, especially during the trophy presentation. The victory crowned an exceptional season in which they won every domestic trophy in Malta and now added an international honour to their achievements.

Meanwhile, Floriana Young Stars reached the final of the EuroHockey 2, but were defeated 5–2 by Siauliai Ginstrekte Akademija, who had home advantage.

The standout performer for the Lithuanian side was Povilas Sinkevicius, who scored all five goals. Floriana’s goals came from Ali Rizwan and Luke Borg Costanzi.
