Malta Women begin preparations for 2026 League B2 campaign

The Malta Women’s National Team will return to action next week as preparations officially begin for their 2026 UEFA Women’s European Qualifiers campaign. A double international friendly against Croatia is scheduled for Friday, 28th November at 19:00 and Monday, 1st December at 17:00, both at the Centenary Stadium and broadcast live on TVMSport+.

These fixtures mark an important step ahead of next year’s qualifiers, where Malta will compete in League B2 alongside Northern Ireland, Switzerland, and Turkey. The two matches will serve as the final chance of the year for Head Coach Manuela Tesse to assess form, integrate emerging talent, and refine tactical structures before competitive commitments resume.

Malta enters this international window with several injury absences, including Haley Bugeja, Fiona Buttigieg, Jana Barbara, and Charlene Zammit. However, there is a positive boost with the return of U19 forward Sara Saliba, who re-joins the senior squad and strengthens the team’s attacking options.

Tesse is expected to use these fixtures to maintain match rhythm, offer meaningful playing time across the squad, and test the adaptability of both experienced players and younger prospects. With a demanding 2026 calendar approaching, the focus remains on squad depth, consistency, and tactical continuity.

Supporters are encouraged to attend the matches and continue backing the women’s national team as momentum builds toward an important year in Maltese women’s football.

Malta’s preparations for the 2026 campaign begin with ambition, focus, and a growing belief in the future of the women’s game.
