Tenishia Thornton just competed in her final qualification for the Olympic Games.
Thornton had a remarkable competition in the 64A category, lifting 84kg, 87kg, and 90kg in Snatch, and 104kg, 109kg, and 111kg in Clean and Jerk, setting three new national records. In the finals, Thornton, the youngest athletes in the competition, placed fifth, following athletes from North Korea and Ukraine.
The results of the 64kg category will count towards the 71kg Olympic category, which will be concluded today evening . Only the top 10 athletes in the world will advance to the Olympic finals.
Thornton also achieved commendable results in the 59kg category, and she hopes to secure a spot in the Olympics. However, we have to wait until the final list is published. Nevertheless, after her successful performance, she remains optimistic about earning a place in the Olympics.
