Phoenix Handball Club Malta forms a technical alliance with SL Benfica

Phoenix Handball Club Malta has unveiled a game-changing alliance with SL Benfica, highlighting its commitment to nurturing youth handball talent in the region.

This significant collaboration commenced last week with an intensive training camp for 50 players from Phoenix Handball. The participants included both boys and girls aged between 10 and 17.

Two SL Benfica coaches, Carlos Garcia and Pedro Jeronimo, travelled to Malta to lead this training camp. The event took place at the Ħamrun Handball Pavilion from July 2 to 4. This initiative represents a crucial element of Phoenix Handball Club’s larger plan for international partnerships.

Orlando Bonnici, the president of Phoenix Club, remarked: “It is an important milestone not only for our club but also for the local handball scene. We are honoured to be collaborating with a club that has a vast experience in international sports.”

“We are thrilled about this collaboration with SL Benfica as we believe it will provide opportunities to aspiring athletes and demonstrate that handball can be pursued professionally by talented players even beyond our shores.”

Sport Lisboa e Benfica, commonly referred to as Benfica, is a professional handball team based in Lisbon, Portugal.
