International gymnastics event to be held this weekend

GymStars Gymnastics Club, Malta is set to host an exciting international gymnastics event from July 5th to 7th, welcoming 300 athletes, including top Maltese gymnasts!

This prestigious competition, now in it’s 40th edition since its inception in 2004, aims to provide local gymnasts the opportunity to participate in an international event on our beautiful island, promoting sports tourism.

We are proud to host clubs from South Africa, Luxembourg, Serbia, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Spain, and the UK, totaling 16 clubs with a mix of abilities participating.

Our local gymnasts will be participating in various categories, showcasing different abilities whilst also having the best gymnasts on the island of the national team taking part for this event.

Our esteemed coaching team comprises International talent, including Head Coach Nataliya Berehova from Ukraine, her Assistant Sam Vassallo, Valentina Cirolli, and Antonina Uzunova from Bulgaria. These professionals have brought prestige and honors to our club, significantly enhancing our athletes’ International exposure.

The highlight of this year’s competition is the presence of Carol Angela Orchard from Canada, a renowned commentator from the London Olympics with the BBC and a four-time Olympic coach. She will also be part of the Sunlive WAG Training Camp, alongside Pete Etherington, another esteemed Olympic coach, conducting workshops for our local and international coaches.

Additionally, we are honored to have the famous Oksana Omelianchik, who will be a tribute to her gymnastics career and will serve as the head of judging during the competition.

We extend our gratitude to Island Services Co. Ltd for providing water for all athletes throughout the event and SportMalta for their support.

The competition is open to the public so we invite everyone to bring their Maltese flags and join us at the National Sports School in Pembroke to celebrate and support our athletes.
