GymStars Gymnastics Malta continued its impressive footing on the international stage, following up last week’s outstanding results at ComeGym in Turkey with another wave of success, this time at the Coastline International Competition held in the United Kingdom. After an intensive training camp, The GymStars Xcel team delivered a remarkable medal haul, further cementing the club’s reputation as a leader in Maltese gymnastics.
Xcel Program: Developing Malta’s Next Generation of Gymnasts
The GymStars Xcel program is tailored for gymnasts who train a minimum of eight hours per week, providing a critical pathway for young athletes to gain international competition experience. This program not only nurtures technical skill and competitive spirit but also allows Maltese gymnasts to represent their club and country on the global stage but mirroring the opportunities available to elite-level athletes.

Medal Success at the Coastline International Competition
Competing against a strong field of athletes in the UK, GymStars’ Xcel team amassed over 27 medals, showcasing the depth of talent and dedication within the squad.

- Ariana Obagiou: 3 Silver Medals
- Faith Abela Montebello: 2 Gold, 2 Silver
- Nina Vesilji: 1 Gold, 2 Bronze
- Lyra Martin: 1 Bronze
- Emma Gafa: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze
- Leyla Cuschieri: 4 Silver, 1 Bronze
- Sophie Camilleri: 1 Silver, 2 Bronze
- Ella Caruana: 1 Bronze
- Nina Grech: 2 Silver, 1 Bronze
- Philippa Calleja: Participation Medal
A special mention goes to Nina Falzon, who placed 4th on all apparatus and in the All-Around, and to Ella Gafa, who delivered consistent excellence across all events.
Looking Ahead: National and World Championships
As the Xcel team celebrates its recent achievements, GymStars’ Elite squad is intensifying its preparations for the upcoming National Championships this November. The focus now shifts to maintaining momentum and building on the club’s reputation for excellence in Maltese gymnastics.
Adding to the excitement, Sophie St John is set to represent Malta at the World Junior Championships in the Philippines, accompanied by her coach. This marks another milestone for GymStars and highlights the club’s ongoing commitment to developing world-class gymnasts.
