Aidan Buttigieg of Team Polti Visit Malta claimed victory in the second race of the 2025 National Time Trial Championship, one of two championships organised by the Maltese Cycling Federation. The races took place in Fleur-de-Lys on a 2.5 km lap. The Elite, Women, Masters, and Juniors categories completed 6 laps; Under-16s completed 4 laps; Under-14s 2 laps; and Under-12s 1 lap.
Buttigieg finished first again in the Elite category with a time of 20:11. Jacob Schembri of Bike It Up Racing placed second (20:47), followed by Luke Borg of The Cyclist by Agones in third (21:03). Following the race, The Cyclist by Agones lodged a protest regarding an alleged irregularity by Jacob Schembri during the event. Michelle Vella Wood of Team Greens won the Women’s race in 25:08. She was followed by teammate Danica Bonello Spiteri (26:03) and Lindsey Pirotta of D Sports Lab (26:11).
In the Masters 40+ category, Joaquin Rojas of Team Greens claimed first place with a time of 22:04, ahead of Mark Zammit of Mosta CC (22:16) and Nicholas Schembri of Team Greens (23:16). David Cushing of Bike It Up Racing won the Masters 50+ category in 23:25, followed by teammate Kevin Muscat (24:28) and Stephen Grima of D Sports Lab (24:50).
Ryan Gatt of The Cyclist by Agones won the Juniors category with a time of 23:54. Ethan Grech of Mosta CC won the Under-16 Boys category in 17:46 after completing four laps, followed by teammate Samwel Attard (19:16). Rihanna Hassan of Team Greens won the Under-16 Girls category in 24:51.
Neil Cassar of Shamrock Stars won the Under-14 Boys category, completing two laps in 7:52. Behind him were two Mosta CC cyclists, Ethan Cumbo (8:28) and Timothy Buttigieg Scicluna (9:01). Nina Debono Curmi of D Sports Lab won the Under-14 Girls category in 9:08, followed by Katie Anne Vella Wood of Team Greens (9:27).
The Under-12 Boys category was dominated by Mosta CC riders, with Kurt Grech finishing first in 4:55. He was followed by teammates Zacchery Vella (5:06) and Raphael Buhagiar (5:16), who shared third place with Nolan Tabone.
The next race will take place on Sunday, 13 July 2025, at the Mizieb circuit. This will be the third and final race of the Time Trial Championship, concluding the two championships organised by the Maltese Cycling Federation. The races will begin at 7:00 am.
