Aidan Buttigieg extends winning streak

Aidan Buttigieg of Team Polti Visit Malta continued his dominant run by winning the third and final race of the 2025 National Time Trial Championship, one of two national championships organised by the Malta Cycling Federation. The event, held in Miżieb, featured a single 1.1km lap for all competing cyclists and marked the conclusion of this year’s national competitions.

Buttigieg once again finished first in the Elite category, registering a record time of 2:13.49. Jacob Schembri of Bike It Up Racing followed in second place with 2:20.17, while his teammate John Camilleri placed third in 2:27.27.

In the Women’s category, Diana Muscat of Team Greens emerged victorious with a time of 3:19.65, ahead of teammate Michelle Vella Wood (3:30.75) and Lindsey Pirotta of D Sports Lab (3:34.33).

The Masters 40+ category was dominated by Team Greens, with Joaquin Rojas taking the win in 2:37.47, followed closely by teammates Arek Kawalec (2:37.51) and Gesred Borg (2:43.94). In the Masters 50+ category, David Cushing of Bike It Up Racing took first place in 3:01.14, ahead of Joseph Caruana of Team Greens (4:53.48).

Ryan Gatt of The Cyclist by Agones won the Juniors category with a time of 3:14.37, while Ethan Grech of Mosta CC claimed victory in the Under-16 Boys with 2:47.34, followed by teammate Samwel Attard (3:58.96). Rihanna Hassan of Team Greens won the Under-16 Girls category in 7:50.19.

In the Under-14 Boys, Neil Cassar of Shamrock Stars once again secured first place with a time of 2:36.96, ahead of Timothy Buttigieg Scicluna (3:36.73) and Matthew Agius (3:47.83), both of Mosta CC. Katie Anne Vella Wood of Team Greens won the Under-14 Girls category with 3:39.38, followed by Nina Debono Curmi of D Sports Lab (4:26.21).

In the youngest category, Kruiven Farrugia of Shamrock Stars won the Under-12 Boys race in 3:44.88, finishing ahead of Kurt Grech of Mosta CC (5:03.31) and Nolan Tabone (5:15.01). The Under-12 Girls category was also won by Shamrock Stars, with Zaliya Dimech clocking a time of 6:35.45.
