The Cyclist by Agones Criterium was held on 10 February 2026, marking the start of the local road cycling season. The Safi and Kirkop circuit hosted a full day of racing, bringing together competitive cyclists, amateur riders and spectators.
Organised by Agones, the event featured several race categories, including Elite, Female, Masters 40 plus, Masters 50 plus, Under 23 and Junior divisions. The closed circuit format allowed riders to compete in a structured and tactical environment, with repeated laps requiring positioning, pace control and sprint finishes.
The Elite race concluded with a sprint finish won by Antoine Magaud of The Cyclist by Agones team.

Elite: Antoine Magaud, The Cyclist by Agones
Female: Ilsa Beig, Bike It Up Racing
Masters 40 plus: Lian Ben Ari, The Cyclist by Agones
Masters 50 plus: David Cushing
Under 23: Ryan Muscat
Junior: Andrea Cassone, The Cyclist by Agones
Warren Muscat, Event Director and President of Agones, stated that the criterium was established to promote competitive cycling and support the local sporting community. He noted the level of participation and the conduct of riders and spectators throughout the event.
Medical teams, race marshals and volunteers were present to ensure the event operated safely and according to regulations.
Agones confirmed its ongoing commitment to organising structured cycling competitions and providing participation opportunities across different age groups, contributing to the development of road cycling in Malta.
