Swieqi United Women’s Team made history this afternoon as they were officially crowned champions of the Assikura Women’s League for the first time in the club’s history. The team was presented with the prestigious trophy after finishing at the top of the table at the conclusion of an impressive season.
To cap off their remarkable title-winning campaign, Swieqi United secured a hard-fought victory against Hibernians, with Karima Abdulai netting the decisive goal early in the first half. This final triumph underscored their dominance throughout the season and solidified their status as worthy champions.
During the trophy presentation, Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo and Andrew Grech, Managing Director of Assikura Insurance Brokers PLC, awarded medals to the players and technical staff before handing over the coveted trophy to Swieqi United captain, Shona Zammit.
This milestone marks a new era for Swieqi United, who have now etched their name in Maltese women’s football history.
