Mġarr United enjoyed an unbeaten Round Two in the Assikura Women’s League, highlighted by individual awards for Ryan Vella and Amber Grech. Swieqi United’s Ema Micallef also received recognition in the Assikura Women’s Youth League.
Ryan Vella was named Coach of the Round, while Amber Grech earned the Best Player award for October and November. Their achievements reflect Mġarr United’s strong start to the season as they pursue their first women’s league title.
Vella commented, “Winning this award for the third consecutive time is a great honour. More importantly, it reflects the strong performances of the team. All the credit goes to the players and staff. We remain focused on continuous improvement and on taking things step by step, aiming to finish the season strongly.”
Grech, who has scored four goals from midfield, said, “This award means a lot to me. It represents all the effort, sacrifices, and hard work I have been putting in every day, as well as the support from my team-mates and coaches. It motivates me to keep improving and stay focused.”
The midfielder added, “It has been a very positive season so far. As a team, we are focused, we train hard, and we push each other every day. With the support of our coaching staff and committee, we have stayed consistent, and that is what has brought us to where we are now.”
In the Assikura Women’s Youth League, Swieqi United’s Ema Micallef was awarded Player of the Month for October and November. The young talent, who also plays for Swieqi’s senior side, scored a hat-trick in an 8-0 victory over Lija/Mġarr in October.
Micallef said, “I appreciate this award, as it recognises the consistent effort and dedication I put into my work each day. I dedicate it to my team for their unwavering support.”
The awards were presented by Andrew Grech, Managing Director of Assikura Insurance Brokers PCC Ltd, during a brief ceremony at the company’s offices in Santa Venera.
