The standings in the Assikura Women’s League remain unchanged as the top four teams were forced to settle for draws in their latest matches.
On Thursday, Hibernians faced Mġarr United, while Birkirkara went head-to-head with Swieqi United, with both matches ending in identical 1-1 draws. These results keep Hibernians and Swieqi tied at the top with 39 points. Mġarr remains three points behind in third place, while reigning champions Birkirkara sit fourth with 34 points.
Mġarr took an early lead through a goal from Yanina Mendez in the 14th minute. However, Hibernians equalized in the second half, thanks to Leah Ayres.
Meanwhile, in the other match, Birkirkara struck first when Mariah Cardona scored in the 19th minute, but Swieqi responded quickly, leveling the score through Salamatu Abdulai.
