The 2026 Agones SFC Duathlon marked the official start of Malta’s multisport season, attracting athletes from across the islands and beyond. The event was celebrated for its mix of endurance, determination, and community spirit.
Held in near-perfect weather conditions, this edition of the duathlon recorded one of the highest participation rates in the event’s history. Both male and female competitors delivered impressive performances, demonstrating the growing competitiveness of the local endurance sports scene.
The race followed a run-bike-run format, designed to challenge athletes with a course that tested both speed and strategy. From the opening run, frontrunners quickly established a competitive pace, while amateur participants also showcased strong determination throughout the day.
Crowds of spectators lined the course, generating an energetic atmosphere that encouraged athletes to achieve personal bests. Volunteers and race officials played a key role in ensuring safety and smooth operations, reflecting Agones SFC’s commitment to professional and well-organised events.
“This year’s duathlon highlights the continued growth of our endurance community,” said Race Director Warren Muscat. “Competition is stronger than ever, and we are proud of every athlete who crossed the finish line.”
The event also prioritised inclusivity, welcoming participants of different ages and abilities. This approach further strengthened Malta’s local multisport community, encouraging both participation and sportsmanship across all levels.
