Malta Sports Journalists Association to organise again traditional Boxing Day Football Tournament

The Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA) will be once again organising the traditional Boxing Day Football Tournament. This tournament traditionally sees football teams made up of sports journalists and other media personalities, staff from the Malta Football Association (MFA), referees from the Malta Football Referees Association (MFRA) and Members of the Parliament from both political parties.

The MSJA’s team includes Adrian Gatt, Alex Ellul, Alex Falzon, Andrea Rossitto, Chris Falzon, Gianluca Zahra, Heinrich Camilleri, Jordi Farrugia, Keith Demicoli, Liam Farrugia, Mark Muscat, Massimo Axisa, Matthew Vassallo, Ron Briffa, Liam Carter, Francesco Borg and Matteo Desira Buttigieg.

For the MFA’s team there are Peter Busuttil, Rodney Pisani, Matthew Sciberras, Emanuel Cassar, Keith Fenech, Mark Gauci, Matthew Paris, Stewart Said, Liam Attard, Adrian Buttigieg, Maria Azzopardi, Stefano Grima, Noel Azzopardi, Angelo Chetcuti, Rowen Camilleri, Ivan Woods, Joseph Fenech, Mauro Camilleri Darmanin, Luke Vassallo, Roderick Bajada, Stephen Calleja, Anthony Fenech, Fabrizio Tabone, Nicole Espinel and Oumayma Jilli.

MFRA’s team is composed of Matthias Buttigieg, Miguel Buttigueg, Carmel Vassallo, Ian Xuereb, Max Muscat, Darko Stankovic, James Muscat, Kyle Caruana, Duncan Spencer and Kristian Sultana.

The players for the Members of Parliament’s team are Robert Cutajar, Chris Said, Justin Schembri, Stanley Zammit, Darren Carabott, Ryan Callus, Jerome Caruana Cilia, Ivan Castillo, Ian Vassallo Hagi, David Agius, Carmelo Abela, Silvio Schembri, Omar Farrugia, Alex Muscat and Joe Etienne Abela.

The Boxing Day Football Tournament will be held on Thursday 26th December 2024, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Centenary Stadium, Ta’ Qali. H.E. President of Malta Miriam Spiteri Debono will be attending to meet the participants and those involved in this activity.

As is customary, tournament participants will pool their funds in a collective donation for the national fund-raising activity L-Istrina. The public is welcome to attend and contribute with a donation along with the participants.
