The Maltese futsal scene was alive with action this week, featuring a total of six matches across the men’s and women’s leagues. One men’s league fixture between Luxol St Andrews and Futsal Selection U19 was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Men’s League Highlights
In a commanding display, the University of Malta Students Futsal Team thrashed the Malta FA Futsal Selection U17 13–0, cementing their reputation as one of the season’s teams to watch. Standout performers included Colombian Cruz Guiterrez Roller Santiago and Argentine Fernandez Cristian Jose, each netting four goals.
Marsaskala Futsal Legends also impressed with a 9–2 victory over debutants Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal, leading 6–1 at halftime. Karl Luke Schembri starred for Marsaskala, scoring four goals.
Meanwhile, Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA suffered a heavy 2–11 defeat against GŻR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal, with Colombian Diaz Montanez Cristian Camilo contributing four goals to the winning side.
Women’s League Kick-Off
The women’s league also saw thrilling action this week. St George’s Futsal opened their campaign with a convincing 9–1 win over Parr Mela Rockets Futsal, with Estefany Colemnarez scoring four goals. The match saw disciplinary action as Paula Perdomo of Parr Mela was suspended.
Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus secured a hard-fought 2–0 win against Swieqi United Futsal LECO7, with an own goal by Spiteri followed by a strike from Rodanne Azzopardi.
Last season’s Knock Out champions, Zero Sei Futsal, also began strongly, defeating St Andrews Futsal 5–0, with five different players finding the net and a 3–0 lead established by halftime.
Luxol St Andrews Prepare for UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round
The spotlight now turns to Luxol St Andrews Men’s team, who will represent Malta in the UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round – Group 3. Matches will take place at the University Sports Hall in Gżira, with free entry for fans.
