Żabbar St Patrick stunned Valletta with a composed 2-0 victory, ending the Citizens’ unbeaten run. The Saints were fully deserving of the points for a disciplined and spirited display, while Valletta were short of their usual fluency. Valletta will start the Top Six in second place on 22 points, while Żabbar St Patrick begin the Bottom Six in eighth on 10 points.
On 23 minutes Valletta fashioned the first clear opening with a neat interchange between Yuri Messias, Yannick Yankam and Evandro Pinto Gomes. Jonathan Grech blocked Pinto Gomes’s effort and, from the follow up, Yankam’s strike was diverted behind by the Żabbar defence.
Żabbar replied on 43 minutes when Santiago Cejas cut in from the left and drove just over the bar.

The breakthrough arrived on 61 minutes. After a scrappy passage inside the area, the ball fell to Vinicius De Paiva, who finished from close range to make it 1-0, sparking jubilant celebrations among the Żabbar supporters at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
Valletta threatened an equaliser on 71 minutes when substitute Andrea Zammit cut in from the left, but Grech saved smartly at the second attempt.
Żabbar sealed it on 86 minutes as Brian Gambarte applied a tidy close range finish past Adilson Aguero Dos Santos for 2-0.
