New Ħamrun Spartans coach Winston Muscat did not have the start he had hoped for, as his team suffered their third league defeat in a row on Thursday afternoon, losing 1-0 to Sliema Wanderers.

Paul Zammit’s team took the lead in the 28th minute when Simon Zibo finished off a free-kick from Steve Pisani on the left.

Ħamrun tried to fight back, but Sliema’s solid defence and their goalkeeper, Emeka, who made some excellent saves, kept them from scoring.

With this win, Sliema Wanderers moved up to 6th place with 15 points, one more than Ħamrun.
