Matchday 2 of the YoHealth Malta Premier League kicks off on Friday evening at 8pm with a clash between title hopefuls Sliema Wanderers and Mosta.
Sliema, seen by many as one of the strongest teams in Malta’s top division, started their season with a 2-1 win over Żabbar St. Patrick. While the result may have been expected, it wasn’t an easy match for them.
On the other hand, Mosta lost 3-1 to Marsaxlokk in a match affected by some controversial refereeing decisions. They were denied a penalty in the 3rd minute after a foul on Prince Emmanuel, and their opponents’ third goal appeared to be clearly offside, according to Mosta. To make matters worse, Brazilian attacking midfielder Giancarlo Gonçalves was sent off in added time and will miss this game.
The last time Sliema and Mosta played each other was in last season’s Closing Round, when Sliema won 4-1.
Ishmael Barbara will be the referee for this match.
