Gżira United have confirmed the signing of Costa Rican defender Pablo Fonseca Brenes, marking a significant addition to their squad ahead of the new season.
The 26-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Premier League club and is set to embark on his first venture into European football.
“Pablo Fonseca Brenes is Maroon!” the club announced in a statement.
“The versatile 26-year-old defender joins us from Costa Rica, where he played in the country’s top division. His most recent club was AD San Carlos.”
Fonseca Brenes has built his career largely in Costa Rica, featuring for several top-tier sides including CS Uruguay, Santos FC, and Cartaginés, before moving to AD San Carlos.
He also had a stint in the United States, representing the Monmouth Hawks during his time there.
With his blend of experience and versatility, Fonseca Brenes is expected to bolster Gżira United’s backline as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
