Gżira United announced the signing of Latvian centre-forward Aivars Emsis, who joins the Maroons after becoming a free agent at the start of the year.
The 27-year-old striker was last on the books of Banga in Lithuania and brings valuable experience to Darren Abdilla’s squad. Emsis offers Gżira United a strong physical presence in the final third and an added aerial threat as the season reaches a crucial stage.
Emsis has previously represented Latvia at youth international level, earning five caps for the Latvia Under-21 national team. Naturally two-footed, he is comfortable leading the line and provides versatility to Gżira’s attacking options.

The forward joins the Maroons ahead of the closing stages of the YoHealth Malta Premier League, as the club looks to add depth and variety to the squad for the remainder of the campaign.
