Birkirkara trash Tarxien as rainbows remain bottom on zero points

YoHealth Malta Premier -Closing round Matchday – 4

Birkirkara………………5
Tarxien Rainbows….0

Birkirkara trashed Tarxien Rainbows with a ruthless display in the fourth match of the YoHealth Malta Premier closing round, condemning the Rainbows to yet another heavy defeat and leaving them anchored to the bottom of the table with zero points.

From the opening minutes, Birkirkara set the tempo and showed clear intent. Acheampong went close as early as the 11th minute with a fierce drive from the right that flashed just wide. The breakthrough arrived three minutes later when Garzia delivered a low cross from the left and Reid arrived unmarked to slot home from the opposite flank.

Tarxien briefly tried to respond, with Da Silva Barbosa testing goalkeeper Grech from distance on 22 minutes, but Birkirkara’s control was never really threatened. A swift counterattack on 25 minutes saw Bayo Mben burst into the area, though his effort was comfortably saved by Spiteri. The pressure told again on 32 minutes when a free kick caused chaos in the box, and from the resulting corner Bispo dos Santos struck from the right to double the lead.

The Rainbows had half-chances through Musulin and Mosquera, but Birkirkara were clinical. On the stroke of half-time, Viveros released Bayo Mben inside the area, and the forward made no mistake, calmly finishing past Spiteri to make it three before the break.

Any hopes of a response after half-time were quickly extinguished. Birkirkara continued to dominate possession and territory, with Bayo Mben narrowly missing with a header early in the second period. Substitutions changed little for Tarxien Rainbows, who struggled to cope with Birkirkara’s pace and movement.

The fourth goal arrived on 78 minutes when Garzia received the ball on the right and unleashed a precise shot beyond Spiteri. Just two minutes later, Garzia turned provider, whipping in another cross from the right for Dimech to finish first time and complete a crushing five-goal rout.

Birkirkara could have added more late on, with Vrcic rattling the crossbar from a free kick, underlining the one-sided nature of the contest.

The final whistle confirmed a dominant Birkirkara performance, while Tarxien’s nightmare closing round continues. With four matches played and zero points collected, the Rainbows remain rooted to the foot of the table, facing an increasingly bleak outlook as the season progresses.
