Maltese footballer Maria Farrugia delivered a stellar performance, scoring both goals in Sheffield United Women’s 2-0 win over Liverpool Feds to secure a spot in the fourth round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
Playing under challenging weather conditions at Jericho Lane, Farrugia broke the deadlock in the first half with a spectacular long-range strike that hit the underside of the crossbar before finding the net. After the break, she added a second, finishing a well-crafted team play set up by Eva Butler’s determined run into the box.
Despite late pressure from the Feds, United maintained their defensive composure to keep a clean sheet and advance in the competition. Farrugia’s standout performance reinforced her value to the team as they approach the next round.
