Inter Women will wrap up their Malta training camp with a friendly match against Hibernians, representatives of the Assikura Women’s League. The match will take place at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Tuesday evening at 19:00.
The Maltese forward Haley Bugeja is expected to lead Inter’s attack. Having played abroad with Sassuolo and Orlando Pride, Bugeja returns to her home country for this training camp, providing local fans with a rare opportunity to see the forward in action for her club.
The camp has allowed Inter to prepare for the second half of the Serie A Femminile season. The team will resume competitive action on January 18 with a high-profile clash against Juventus. Currently, Inter sit fourth in the league, aiming to close the gap on leaders Roma and strengthen their title challenge.
Inter’s training in Malta has included full-team sessions, helping players regain rhythm after the mid-season break. The friendly against Hibernians also gives the team a chance to test combinations and integrate players ahead of the remainder of the season.
Bugeja has had a productive season so far, scoring 11 goals in 15 appearances, including a hat-trick in a derby win over Milan. She has also gained European experience, featuring in both the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, where she contributed four goals before Inter were eliminated by Sweden’s BK Häcken.
The friendly match provides Maltese football fans with an opportunity to witness top-level football on local soil and highlights the increasing presence of Maltese players in international club competitions. Inter Women’s camp and friendly in Malta also serve to strengthen ties with the local football community while maintaining focus on the club’s objectives for the remainder of the season.
