Ahead of Thursday’s UEFA Conference League clash against RFS of Latvia, Ħamrun Spartans coach Giacomo Modica expressed his disappointment at the lack of support the club received in trying to move the match away from the National Stadium, due to the very poor condition of the pitch.
During the matchday-1 press conference Modica said:
“This is a massive opportunity, not just for me, but for the players, to make history for Maltese football. But we haven’t been given the right conditions to do that.
In my view, not everyone wants us to succeed. We asked to change the venue from the National Stadium, which may look fine, but at the moment, is not suitable for football.”

Ħamrun and Malta international Ryan Camenzuli also shared his concern, saying it will be difficult for the team to play their usual style.
“It’s tough trying to play our game on a pitch in this condition,This isn’t just a big game for Ħamrun, it’s an important one for all of Maltese football.”
Despite the challenges, Camenzuli called on Spartans fans to get behind the team, and promised they will give everything to make history.

Ħamrun Spartans face RFS of Latvia this Thursday at 7pm at the National Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on TVMsport+.
