PSV recorded their first UEFA Champions League victory of the campaign with an emphatic 6-2 win over Napoli, securing back-to-back successes against Italian opposition in the competition for the first time.
Napoli threatened inside two minutes when Lorenzo Lucca dragged wide, before Vanja Milinkovic Savic made the first save of the night, pushing behind Dennis Man’s effort after a neat one-two with Ismael Saibari. From the resulting corner, Guus Til headed over Joey Veerman’s delivery, and Ryan Flamingo then nodded into the side netting from another set piece.

Against the run of play, Napoli went ahead just after the half hour. Leonardo Spinazzola’s fizzed cross was powered in by Scott McTominay. PSV responded swiftly. Sustained possession ended with Ivan Perisic crossing for Alessandro Buongiorno to divert into his own net. Moments later, Saibari finished from close range following a rapid counter led by Perisic, with Napoli protesting for a penalty at the other end after a Jerdy Schouten challenge on Lucca in the build-up.
After the interval, Lucca headed off target from a Matteo Politano corner, and PSV punished the miss. Mauro Junior skipped past Buongiorno and cut back for Man, whose finish squeezed through Sam Beukema’s legs for 3-1. A triple change from Antonio Conte followed, including former PSV attacker Noa Lang, but the hosts stayed in control and nearly had a fourth when Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa’s loose pass gifted Til a chance.
Lucca was then dismissed for dissent. PSV capitalised immediately as Man rifled in his second to make it 4-1. McTominay’s second header briefly raised Napoli hopes, only for Peter Bosz’s side to quash them in double quick time. Substitute Ricardo Pepi tapped in at the back post and Couhaib Driouech completed a flowing move with a thumping finish to round off the scoring.
PSV move to four points in the league phase, one ahead of Napoli, who have now suffered successive defeats after their 1-0 reverse against Torino at the weekend.
