After the 1:1 draw in Munich against Manchester City, Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel is satisfied with the game despite his team’s elimination.
“I am very satisfied with how we played both matches against Manchester City, both with the game and the attitude. We were on the same level as the current best team in Europe, completely on the same level. We managed to cause them problems in both matches, we just weren’t lucky enough. We could have been the first to score both in Manchester and here,” said Tuchel.
After City’s convincing victory at the Etihad with a score of 3:0, Bayern managed only to defend their home field in the rematch.
The Bayern coach regrets the missed opportunities, which are unacceptable at this stage of the competition.
“If we want to beat the team that is currently the best, chances must be used, and luck is also needed. I think that this total of 4:1 does not show the real state of things,” said Tuchel.
The German coach was sent off in the 87th minute after protesting.
Since taking over the team from Julian Nagelsmann, he was eliminated from the Cup competition by Freiburg, and the Champions League by Manchester City, and in five matches he recorded only one victory against Freiburg in the Bundesliga.
Bayern is left to fight for the title in Germany, and they are currently first in the Bundesliga table with two points more than Borussia Dortmund.
