Manchester United players beat Brentford 1:0 in the 25th round of the Premier League, and Dutch manager Erik ten Hag was pleased with the club’s return from Old Trafford to winning ways.
United broke a streak of three matches without a win, and the man of the match was Marcus Rashford, who was the only scorer in this match.
There was a lot of desire among the players of Ten Hag, who recovered from the defeat in the previous round against Newcastle, when the Magpies celebrated with a score of 2:0.
“The passion and desire that we didn’t have on Sunday returned, and we crossed the line. When you lose focus, mistakes happen. We want to play like machines and not make mistakes. We only made one, luckily they didn’t punish it”, he alluded to Kevin Shade’s chance in the 68th minute.
With the victory, Manchester United returned to fourth place, ahead of Tottenham, with 53 points and one match fewer than the club from London.
“We reacted, and that is the most important thing. I liked how we played in the first half against a very tough opponent. They lost only once in 16 games before this,” said ten Hag.
Marcus Rashford scored his 121st goal for United, leveling with club legend Andy Cole.
“He played a very good match. He led the line but often appeared on the flank. The combination with him and Sabitzer and Sancho and Antonio was very good. He is talked about in every match, and when he is not seen, like on Sunday against Newcastle, it is not good for us. We have to include him in the match, but he, like everyone else, has to take responsibility. He has to be ready to be in those positions to score; he needs focus and energy in every match. Now he had a great finish; it brought us three points”, ten Hag concluded.
