The players of Manchester United played a draw against Leeds (2:2) in the last match of the Premier League, and coach Erik Ten Hag pointed out after the match that he was not satisfied with the performance of his players.
United was behind after the 49th minute (0:2), but until the end managed to score two goals and reach a point.
“If you start every half as we do, it’s unacceptable. It is frustrating to concede two goals, unacceptable. We could have expected them to start aggressively. I’m disappointed. It is true that we were not ready at the beginning of both halves.
At halftime, I told them, ‘guys, we are not ready, try to start the second half stronger, to equalize and then you will win’. Then we conceded a goal again at the beginning, because they started with a lot of intensity, aggressively. The fact that we lost direct duels disappointed me the most, it was like that in the first minutes of both parts of the match”, says Ten Hag.
However, Ten Hag said that his team showed character to come back to 2:2 after 0:2 and have several chances to win.
He is particularly pleased with the performance of Jadon Sancho, who came on in the second half, turned the game around and scored the first goal for United since October.
“I am pleased and proud of him for that. It is clear that he had a difficult period, but he came out of it all and should be congratulated. He is a brilliant footballer and if he invests at the right levels, he can be extraordinary. I will support him like all my colleagues, but everything is still up to him”, said Ten Hag.
A new duel between these two teams is scheduled for Sunday at Eland Road in the 23rd round of the Premier League.
