Swieqi Braves sole leaders of the MAFA First Division

Swieqi Braves are the sole leaders of the MAFA First Division league table as they edged Marsa St Michael 1-0. The goal that decided the contest was scored by Italo dos Santos. On the other hand, the other rivals for the title Balluta Barracudas lost the chance to keep the pace with rivals Swieqi as they were defeated by San Ġwann Pro Evolution Academy 2-0. Diego Leito da Silva and Tristan Perrin scored the most important goals for San Ġwann who are now back into contention after a very disastrous start to the season. In the MAFA Second Division, Għaxaq Wolves extended their lead in the standings as they beat Mqabba Albions 1-0. Diego Fernando Pereira scored the all-important goal in the first half. Mqabba were disappointed not to get a point from this encounter when in the last seconds of the game they hit the post after a shot by Jean Alesi Spiteri. Birkirkara St Joseph and Gudja Wanderers shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, a result that didn’t change their position in the table. Keith Mifsud put Gudja Wanderers on top through a penalty so that in the second half, Fabian Caruana equalized for Birkirkara.
