WHY SHAQIRI DIDN'T SUCCEED IN FRANCE: He wasn't in shape, he has to attack and defend and he can't

Olympique Lyonnais coach Peter Bosch revealed why Xherdan Shaqiri did not function in his team and that he was not in shape when he signed.

As “Foot Mercato” reported, before the game with Nice, Lyon coach Peter Bosch explained the problems of the Swiss football player, who left for MLS after only half of the season in France.

– We used it on the right-wing at the beginning. Since we were not so dominant, he played in the open and had to attack and defend, and I don’t think he can do that. He is really number 10 who has to play between the lines, you could even say that he was the best player between the lines for us, with his top technique and vision in a small space… But there are a lot of players in that position here.

Bosch also admitted that the 30-year-old was not in the best shape at the beginning of his period in Lyon, which included only 16 games, two goals, and three assists in all competitions.

Shaqiri left Lyon after only six months and joined the Chicago team for eight million euros.
