The Islanders are on their worst losing run since February, having lost four games in a row across all competitions, scoring just one goal in the process, highlighting their attacking struggles.
The pressure is mounting on manager Davide Nicola, especially after a 2-1 loss to fellow relegation candidates Venezia in their last match. Despite the defeat, the manager was pleased with the team’s performance and will be hoping they can turn those performances into results when they return to their home stadium, Unipol Domus, where Cagliari have earned nine of their 14 points this season.
However, a victory looks unlikely against Inter Milan, who have lost only once in their last 14 meetings with Cagliari. To make matters worse, Inter are on a three-match winning streak, during which they have scored ten goals and conceded none.
Their most recent win was a 2-0 victory against Como on Monday, and a 6-0 thrashing of Lazio earlier this month was one of the club’s biggest away wins in Serie A history. With supporters dreaming of winning the title again, Inter’s away form gives them plenty of confidence, as they have lost just once on the road in Serie A since May 2023.
