Saka out for two months after hamstring surgery, confirms Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka will be out of action for at least two months after undergoing hamstring surgery.

The 23-year-old winger sustained the injury during Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend. Saka’s absence was felt in the Gunners’ 1-0 win over Ipswich at the Emirates, which lifted them to second place in the Premier League standings.

Arteta explained that Saka would be sidelined for “many, many weeks”, with a recovery timeline that could extend beyond two months, depending on how the healing process progresses. The Arsenal boss expressed confidence that his team would cope in Saka’s absence, although he acknowledged the challenges ahead in replacing a player of his quality.

Following the win against Ipswich, which was secured by Kai Havertz’s first-half goal, Arteta praised his side’s resilience but emphasised that there was still work to be done to adapt without their star player. Arsenal’s next challenge will be against Brentford on New Year’s Day.
