Although Lazio are sitting well in the Serie A table, two defeats in their last four league matches show that their form has been inconsistent. They are firmly in the race for European spots and could even challenge for the title if they beat Atalanta. However, Lazio must improve from their recent 6-0 defeat at home to Inter Milan.
Before that heavy loss, they had won their last five home league games, so a response against Atalanta would not be surprising. However, they have struggled against Atalanta recently, winning only one of their last seven encounters, with three draws and three losses. The one win, though, came in their most recent match against them.
Atalanta will be confident of extending Lazio’s poor record against them, as they continue to impress in Serie A. The team from Bergamo has won a club-record 11 consecutive league matches, including five away wins, with four of those featuring clean sheets. Atalanta’s 3-2 win over Empoli last weekend gave them their 13th win of the season, the most by any team in Europe’s top five leagues this term.
With such strong form, it’s hard to see anything other than a 14th victory, especially as they have won nine of their last ten Saturday Serie A games, with just one draw.
