Igor Tudor, recently appointed as Juventus’ head coach, says quick tactical changes are needed to improve the team’s performance. He replaces Thiago Motta, who was sacked after two heavy defeats in what’s been a disappointing season. Juventus are currently fifth in Serie A, just one point off the top four.
Speaking at his first press conference, Tudor, 46, stressed the importance of both results and development:
“We’ve started a new journey with many fresh players, which may have slowed things down. But at Juve, you must win and grow quickly.”
Tudor wants an attacking style but also insists on maintaining balance:
“I want the team to be fun to watch. I like attacking with numbers but also keeping things tight at the back. The work must be complete.”
He added that it will take a couple of weeks to fully implement his ideas, but the team must show the right spirit straight away.
Tudor confirmed Manuel Locatelli will stay on as captain, saying he has the right qualities to lead the team.
Juventus will face Genoa at home on Saturday, where fans will get their first look at Tudor’s approach in action.
