After a quiet first half, the match came to life after the break as Lazio beat Genoa 3-2 in an exciting game. It was Lazio’s sixth straight win against Genoa, who showed great fight by coming back from 2–0 down.
The match was played in an almost empty Stadio Olimpico because Lazio fans stayed away in protest and Genoa fans were not allowed to travel. This showed on the pitch, with both teams starting slowly. Lazio had the first chance, but Toma Bašić shot well wide. Genoa then had a chance of their own, but Morten Frendrup’s weak effort was easily saved by Ivan Provedel. Both sides had a few blocked shots, but clear chances were rare before half-time.
Genoa looked more dangerous at times, with Vitinha and Ruslan Malinovskyi both going close, but Provedel made an important save to keep the score level. At the other end, Adam Marušić headed over from a cross, and Bašić had a strong shot blocked.
Lazio started the second half much better. They were given a penalty when Isaksen’s cross hit Aarón Martín’s hand, and Pedro calmly scored in the 56th minute. Six minutes later, Lazio made it 2–0 when Isaksen set up Kenneth Taylor, who scored his first goal for the club.
Genoa quickly responded with a penalty of their own after Mario Gila handled the ball. Malinovskyi scored confidently to make it 2–1. Soon after, Malinovskyi’s corner hit the woodwork and fell to Vitinha, who scored to level the match at 2–2.
Late on, Lazio were awarded another penalty when Leo Østigård handled a header in the box. After a brief argument between players, captain Danilo Cataldi kept his nerve and scored the winning goal. The match ended 3–2, giving Lazio a rare win after recent struggles and handing Genoa their first defeat of 2026.
