AC Milan have agreed on a loan deal to sign Joao Felix from Chelsea, with the Portuguese international expected to arrive in Milan later today.
The deal, worth a total of €5 million, includes a €2 million loan fee and covers the player’s wages until 30th June 2025. However, the agreement does not include an option for Milan to buy the 25-year-old forward permanently, as negotiations on that front could not be completed within the limited timeframe available.
Felix, who made a name for himself at Benfica before his big-money move to Atletico Madrid, had been seeking a change of scenery and was reportedly keen on the switch to Serie A. His decision was influenced by the presence of fellow Portuguese star Rafael Leao at Milan, with whom he is expected to form a strong attacking partnership.
The move comes just months after Chelsea paid €52 million to secure Felix from Atletico last summer, following his previous loan stint at Stamford Bridge. Despite interest from Aston Villa, who were prepared to make a significant financial offer, Felix chose to join the Rossoneri in pursuit of a new challenge.
Milan coach Sérgio Conceição had specifically requested Felix to strengthen the team’s attacking options as they look to compete in both domestic and European competitions.
Felix is expected to undergo the final formalities of the transfer upon his arrival in Milan tonight. His addition comes as Milan push for a european place in Serie A and aim to bolster their chances on the continental stage.
