Anguissa’s stoppage time goal gives Napoli win over Cagliari

Napoli stretched their unbeaten run in Serie A to 14 matches with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Cagliari at the Diego Maradona Stadium. The winning goal came in the dying moments of stoppage time, thanks to Frank Anguissa.

Napoli started slowly, with Kevin De Bruyne twice going close in the first half. His free-kick was saved, and another shot flew just over the bar. Cagliari’s goalkeeper, Elia Caprile, was in top form, making several key saves to keep Napoli out, including stops from Lorenzo Lucca, Scott McTominay, and Frank Anguissa.

Cagliari didn’t manage a shot on target in the first half, although Matteo Prati’s header just missed the mark.

After the break, Napoli pushed harder. Caprile continued to frustrate them with brilliant saves, including a standout stop from Leonardo Spinazzola. Noa Lang also came close, but his shot was cleared off the line.

It looked like Napoli would have to settle for a draw, but in the last minute of added time, Alessandro Buongiorno set up Anguissa, who calmly slotted the ball into the net to seal the win.

The result means Cagliari have now won just once in their last 11 away league matches. For Napoli, it’s a great start to their title defence, their third perfect two-game opening in four seasons.
