A major FC Copenhagen supporter group has launched a boycott of McDonald’s after the club announced plans to build one of the fast food chain’s restaurants inside their Parken Stadium.
The club intends to construct the McDonald’s outlet between the B and C stands at Parken this summer, but the plans have gone down very badly with Sektion 12, the large fan group based in the B stand who are responsible for creating the atmosphere and songs on match days.
In a post on their Instagram page, Sektion 12 accused the club’s parent company PS&E of putting profit before their supporters.
“The area between the B and C stands has always been a place where fans could meet before and after the match, share moments, and finish the evening with a drink together,” they wrote. “Now it is being replaced by a global fast food chain with no connection to Copenhagen whatsoever.”
“The decision says it all — profit is more important than fans. Instead of investing in the match day experience, the management is once again going for the easy money.”

Sektion 12 are now calling on supporters to boycott the McDonald’s restaurant when it opens inside the stadium.
Denmark currently has 121 McDonald’s restaurants across the country, with the chain selling around 80 million burgers a year in the Danish market.
