The Czech Republic has joined Poland and Sweden in refusing to play against Russia in the qualifying round for the World Cup in Qatar in response to the country’s military intervention in Ukraine.

The executive committee of the Football Association of the Czech Republic announced that it “unanimously made the decision that the Czech national team will not play against Russia in any case.”

– The Executive Board of the Football Association of the Czech Republic, the professional staff and the players agreed that it is not possible to play against Russia due to the current situation, even on neutral ground – it is stated in the announcement.

The same decision was made on Saturday by the football associations of Poland and Sweden.

Russia and Poland should meet on March 24 in the semifinals of the World Cup qualifying barrage, and the winner of that duel will play in the final of the barrage against the better of the match between Sweden and the Czech Republic.
