Reports suggest that AS Roma is preparing for Tammy Abraham’s return to the Premier League in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Abraham, who found himself lower in the pecking order at Chelsea under manager Thomas Tuchel, has spent the past two seasons at Stadio Olimpico.
The English striker has enjoyed a relatively successful stint in the Italian capital, contributing 36 goals and 12 assists from 100 appearances across all competitions. Notably, he played a key role in Roma’s triumph in last season’s Europa Conference League, scoring nine goals.
However, his second season at Roma has been less impressive, with only nine goals in various tournaments. Despite possessing a contract until 2026, Roma’s position regarding Abraham’s future remains strong due to Chelsea’s buy-back clause set at £68m.
Nevertheless, sources indicate that Roma expects a bid of around £40m to be sufficient to secure a deal for Abraham in the summer. The club believes that the 25-year-old striker will ultimately make a return to the Premier League to join a top-tier club, rather than remaining in Italy or moving elsewhere in Europe.
Abraham has been linked with several Premier League sides recently, including a potential reunion with Chelsea, who are in the market for a new number nine. Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have also reportedly sent scouts to assess Abraham’s abilities, as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
Tottenham Hotspur could be a potential destination if they decide to sell Harry Kane, while Aston Villa had previously shown interest before Ollie Watkins’s recent resurgence.
Abraham’s Premier League record stands at 26 goals and eight assists from 89 appearances, which includes a less productive loan spell at Swansea City. The striker has not ruled out a return to Stamford Bridge and has openly discussed considering his options for the future.
