PSG: The reason for Messi's departure revealed

The reputable French newspaper “L’Équipe” published news on its front page today, which claims that Messi and PSG are definitely parting ways.

According to them, Lionel Messi will be free to choose a new midfielder at the end of the current season, as his current contract expires, and negotiations regarding a new one have become complicated.

Messi will leave the Saints as a free agent, as he does not want to exercise the option of a contract extension. In the summer of 2021, he signed a contract with PSG for two years with the option of extending it for another year, but he does not want to extend his stay, while the rich owners of the Parisian club have no intention of keeping him.

By joining the team, PSG guaranteed Messi 78 million euros, if he stays for the third season, as well as a bonus of 115 million, if after that he decides to stay until 2025.

The Parisians have to reduce the salary budget, and in that case, Messi would have to agree to a 25 percent salary reduction, which is almost likely not going to happen.

However, there is no doubt that rich offers are already coming to the seven-time winner. It is said that his priority is to return to Barcelona, but that transfer is complicated due to the financial problems facing the Catalan giant.
