Milan coach Stefano Pioli was not happy with his team’s performance in the Champions League semi-final second leg against city rivals Inter.
Milan was defeated by Inter in the second leg, this time by 1:0, so the Nerazzurri will play for the trophy on June 10 in Istanbul.
“We had a great first half and two great chances. It’s a shame because we believed we could do better and that the final was within reach. For a trip we’ve been on for three years, getting here was something special. This is a far more complicated season than we expected, but it will make us grow as a team. One of the goals was to see progress.
We tried to be in the game in these two competitions, it is normal to be disappointed. As soon as the match ended I tried to raise the morale of the players because we must not end in a negative mood,’ said Pioli.
Pioli also believes that it is not true that his team did not show the desire.
“I think the players did their best. Inter deserved to be in the final, but talking about the lack of desire of my players doesn’t seem right to me. We lost everything in the first 15 minutes of the first game. We were good tonight, everything could have been different,’ said the coach of Milan.
