Malta U18 go down to heavy defeat against Montenegro counterparts

Malta 1 Montenegro 4

Malta suffered an even heavier defeat in their second friendly against Montenegro going down by four goals to one. The local boys almost went ahead on 2 minutes when Nicholas Agius was alone in front of Balsa Radanovic but the Montenegro keeper blocked well.

Montenegro were dangerous on 19 minutes when Andrej Kostic ended a fine run with a curling shot that was well saved by Liam Frendo. Four minutes later, Montenegro took the lead with Jagos Roganovic tapping in from close range after a good cross from the left.

Malta came out strongly in the second half and a fine cross by Thomas Melillo on 48 minutes could not find Felippe Bugeja. But Montenegro doubled just two minutes later when a cross by Camaj found substitute Bojan Damjanovic who made no mistake to slam home.

A bust up between both sets of players occurred on 63 minutes with Zarija Kumburovic given his marching orders by referee Raiden Psaila. This did not seem to deter Montenegro as they sealed the victory a minute later with a wonderful pile driver by Dorde Vuckevic.

The fourth goal came on 75 minutes when an inch perfect cross found Filip Perovic who headed home with ease. Malta grabbed a consolation goal through Benjamin Cassar 7 minutes from time.
