MFPA strengthen first place after seeing off Gżira United

MFPA strengthened the first place of the VMFA Cisk Championship Pool table when they beat Gzira United Veterans 4-2 in the direct clash  at the top of the table. This was the tenth win of the season for the Malta Football Players Association who were determined to get the maximum points against a team that was having very good performances lately. Aleksandar Ribic scored a double for MFPA while Aleksandar Marinkovic and Jonathan Bondin added more goals for their team. Gzira reduced the scoring margin through Gilbert Camilleri Lowell and Trevor Cilia. Referee: Jason Penza.

Birkirkara St Helen’s took advantage of this result to leapfrog the Maroons into second place in the table and are three points away from the MFPA leaders when they beat Hibernians 5-3. The Stripes established a four goal lead before the interval with the second half which saw the reaction of the Paolites so much that they scored three times although it was not enough. Ayrton Buhagiar scored two goals for Birkirkara St Helen’s with Daniel Cremona, Malcolm Bugeja and Firas Aboulezz among the scorers. Leandros Calleja was the author of a double while Adrian Lanzon added another for the Paulists. Referee: Jason Penza.
