Valletta St Paul's and Għaxaq Wolves win ahead of direct clash

Valletta St Paul’s and Għaxaq Wolves both won their matches ahead of their direct showdown on matchday 6 of the MAFA First Division championship.

Valletta St Paul’s triumphed 2-1 against Ta’ Giorni Wanderers. Despite a strong defensive performance from the Wanderers, Valletta scored in each half. Andrew Ejike Obetta opened the scoring, and Matheus de Sousa Verissimo doubled the lead. Ta’ Giorni was awarded a late penalty, which was converted by George Andrew Marshall. The match was officiated by Lorry Sammut.

In the other match, title contenders Għaxaq Wolves secured a 1-0 win over San Ġwann Pro Evolution Academy. After a goalless first half, the Wolves struck late, with Sebastian Nayar scoring the only goal of the game. Ray Tabone was the referee.

Valletta St Paul’s and Għaxaq Wolves will meet on Saturday, 14 December, in what promises to be an exciting match.

In the Second Division, Valletta Stars St Dominic strengthened their position at the top with a 2-1 win over Attard Edex Kings. Zachary Micallef and Federico Marine Tejada scored for Valletta, while Attard’s Andres Aguilera Linates reduced the deficit in the second half. Peter Abela officiated the match.

Żebbuġ Youngsters were awarded a 2-0 walk-over against Ħal Far Titans.

In the Third Division, Swieqi United AFC maintained their perfect record, beating Qajjenza ACJ 3-1. Jubril Bolaji Mustapha and Shibin Malijekkal put Swieqi in control, while Jean Paul Barbara pulled one back for Qajjenza. Joao Calilo Aiezza sealed the victory in injury time. The match was refereed by Alex Grech.
