Għaxaq Wolves on the brink of MAFA First Division glory

Għaxaq Wolves have taken a giant step towards clinching the MAFA First Division title after a 3-0 victory over Ta’ Ġiorni Wanderers. The win, combined with a slip-up from Valletta St Paul’s rivals, leaves the Wolves six points clear at the summit with the finishing line in sight.

Alan Fernando Goncalves Cloth opened the scoring in the 25th minute, giving Għaxaq the early advantage. They controlled proceedings after the break, with Sebastian Nayar doubling the lead before Marinko Solarevic added a third in the dying moments to seal the points.

While Wolves celebrated, it was heartbreak for Ta’ Ġiorni Wanderers, who, alongside Mqabba Albions, have been relegated to the Second Division.

Elsewhere, Valletta St Paul’s faltered once again, dropping valuable points in a 1-1 draw against a resurgent San Ġiljan Saints. Robert Veskimae put the Saints ahead, but Ousman Jallow’s second-half equaliser could not spark a comeback for the champions, who have now failed to win their last two matches.

Valletta Stars St Dominic Eye Second Division Title

In the Second Division, Valletta Stars St Dominic edged closer to silverware following a hard-fought 1-0 win over FC Hamrun Amateurs. Federico Marine Tejada struck late to break Hamrun’s resistance, handing the Stars a result that makes them virtually uncatchable at the top. They are now poised for promotion after just one season in the division.

Swieqi United AFC Seal third division championship

Swieqi United AFC are officially Third Division champions after overcoming Mosta Vikings 2-1. An early own goal from Hyachinte Seka and a strike by Andres Yumis Palacios gave Swieqi a comfortable cushion. Although Romario Hajdari pulled one back for the Vikings early in the second half, Swieqi held on to secure the title with matches to spare.
