Great anticipation for the arch rivals derby between Valletta and Floriana

The BOV Premier League resumes this weekend after the international break in which the Malta national team was involved in two back to back friendlies.

Match Day 22 will surely provide nail-biting encounters as much will be at stake.

Valletta vs Floriana:
Floriana, the league leaders, are expected to win, but Valletta desperately need points to avoid the relegation nightmare. Valletta are hoping to at least register a draw for a morale boost ahead of the last 3 match days.

Ħamrun vs Birkirkara:
Ħamrun Spartans, sitting second in the league, start as favorites, but Birkirkara are fighting for a spot in European competitions so it will be another tough battle on the pitch. Both teams are looking for a win following a recent encounter in the FA Trophy QF in which Birkirkara won on penalties.

Sirens vs Balzan:
Balzan are expected to win against the already relegated Sirens. Balzan need a win  to climb out of the relegation zone, following a win against Gudja in their last match.

Marsaxlokk vs Gzira:
This match could go either way, with only five points separating the two teams. Marsaxlokk are pushing for a European spot, whereas Gżira might settle for a draw after reaching the Semifinals of the FA Trophy.

Gudja vs Naxxar:
Naxxar are aiming for a win to get off the relegation zone, facing the last-placed and already relegated Gudja, who seem unlikely to earn any points in this match and any other points in the remaining games..

Mosta vs St. Lucia:
This is a critical match for both teams in the battle against relegation. Mosta were eliminated on penalties in the QF of the FA Trophy so their only target is now to earn the necessary points to avoid relegation. St. Lucia have a slight edge in the league standings and a draw for them will suffice at least for now.

Sliema vs Hibernians:
Sliema Wds are currently third and coming off a high from reaching the Semifinals, while Hibernians, in fifth place, need a win to keep up their European competition aspirations. A draw could be satisfactory for Sliema, but both teams are expected to play attractive football, a game open to any result.

These matches are crucial for the teams involved, whether they’re fighting for the title, European spots, or trying to avoid relegation. Fans of Maltese football can expect an exciting round of fixtures with much at stake for the clubs.
